Welcome to the Department of Statistics at the University of Missouri. The department has prided itself training and educating students since its creation in 1963. Our faculty are known for both cutting edge methodological and collaborative research and for outstanding teaching.

• Distinguished Professor Noel Cressie, from the University of Wollongong School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics and the National Institute for Applied Statistics Research Australia (NIASRA), has joined our department as an Adjunct Professor beginning Spring 2013.

• The University of Missouri Board of Curators have named Nancy Flournoy a Curators’ Professor. She is the first from the Statistics Department to be awarded with this honor

• Professor Nancy Flournoy wins the ELEVENTH ANNUAL JANET L. NORWOOD AWARD for her outstanding achievement in statistical sciences.

• Faculty position available for Associate Professor in Stochastic Modeling

• Dr. Teiming Ji joined our department as assistant professor from Fall 2012.

• Master's in Statistics-new applied track

• New course offering from Spring 2012: Introduction to Statistical Business-to-Business Pricing

• Professor Lori Thombs has been elected a 2011 Fellow of the American Statistical Association.

• Professor Dongchu Sun assumed the duty of the new department chair from September 1st, 2011.
